Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB): Part 2 for Moderate and High-Risk Workplaces

 Place:

Attend the live training at the local VA Facility location.

Purpose Statement:

This face-to-face course teaches healthcare teams to identify different levels of stress and

respond with the appropriate interventions including customer service, verbal/non-verbal

interventions, and limit setting. healthcare teams are engaged in active discussion of appropriate

and safe response to sexual violence behavior along with weight-based (not strength-based)

Personal Safety skills designed for evasion of and escape from, grabs, chokes, hair pulls, bites,

punches and kicks. Upon return to the workplace, healthcare teams will be expected to use

newly acquired skills to reduce the severity and number of disruptive behavior incidences that

occur within the facility to promote and build a safe work environment.

This workshop addresses Veterans’ Health Administration (VHA), Occupational Safety and

Health Administration (OSHA), and The Joint Commission (TJC) requirements and guidelines.

Please Note: PMDB Personal Safety skills are designed for escape and are neither restraint nor

combative techniques. They emphasize physically disengaging from a situation for personal

protection, evacuating safely from a violent situation, and finding help. This course involves the

controlled and slow practice of physical evasion and escape techniques. healthcare teams who

engage other students in this in-class learning process are expected to conduct themselves in a

safe and appropriate fashion to reduce the risk of injury to self and others.

Target Audience:

This training is appropriate for all employees determined to be in moderate or high-risk

workplaces within VHA Facilities based upon the facility’s Workplace Behavioral Risk

Assessment (WBRA) are required to have this course. The target audience is comprised of any

employee who has contact with patients, visitors, or other employees, including physicians,

nurses, psychologists, social workers, and counselors. Secondary audience includes any

employee who has contact with patients, visitors, or other employees such as police/security,

health care executives, maintenance, housekeeping, and all interested individuals, will also

benefit from this training.

Prerequisite Training:

Staff must complete PMDB Part 1 for All Employees  prior to taking this course the first time.

Credit will be issued only to students who attend 100% of the training and

actively participate in learning. Personal Safety skills involve the ability to turn and twist both

wrists, pivot on feet and turn around, raise arms overhead, bend neck, make an “x” with forearms

in front of face, and maintain balance while standing on one leg.

Outcome/Objectives:

At the conclusion of this educational program, learners will be able to:

1. recognize each level of stress;

2. demonstrate customer service skills in response to low level of stress;

3. demonstrate verbal or non-verbal interventions in response to moderate level of stress;

4. recognize, prevent and report sexual violence and other disruptive behaviors;

5. demonstrate limit setting skills in response to severe level of stress;

6. use supportive stance and distance to establish and maintain a “zone of safety”;

Mass Air Flow Sensor

    How It Works

An input sensor that measures the volume and density (oxygen) Entering the engine. The sensor sends a continuous reading to the vehicle computer which controls the amount of fuel entering the engine thus maintaining the correct air fuel mixture at all times.

When It Doesn't Work

A failing sensor can cause backfires, poor drive ability and reduced fuel mileage.

November 8, 2022 Yellow engine warning dash light came on and stayed on I pulled over, went through the steps bellow.
1.) I disconnected the negative battery cable, and
2.) disconnected the Mass Air Flow Sensor
3.) Waited at the minimum of 4 minuets
Before reconnecting both the Sensor and battery.
4.) Restarted the engine avoiding high RPMs by revving it'
5. Giving the computer time to reset ant the low steady RPMs for at a minimum of 8 minuets.
Thus this gives the engine and computer enough time to reset the engines driving pattern and fuel flow data to the computer. Then driving regularly the computer has the basic data to make adjustments to as it goes along. It's
October 20, 2022 Still no yellow engine warning dash light.

Later.  I found this tip for newer cars, on auto mechanic Scotty Kilmer's YouTube channel:
Preforming almost the same process with the use of a (10 Watt, 1 Ohm, Resistor) Vetco Electronics placed between the two both - Negative and + Positive disconnected battery terminal leads and connecting together safely with the resistor between the two leads. Thus slowly draining all the electricity out of, all the computer modules,
The computer will be cleared of all codes, and will return back to factory settings.
